What are SBEM Calculations?
At the design stage of a commercial building project, building control will ask for an SBEM (Simplified Building Energy Model) Calculation and a BRUKL Report. The BRUKL Report stands for Building Regulations UK Part L Report and is a design stage assessment of the building to demonstrate that the building's CO2 emissions rate (BER) is less than the target CO2 emissions rate (TER) and that the primary energy rate (BPER) is less than the target primary energy rate (TPER). These numbers are understood alongside the Building Regulation Part L requirement for the fabric u-values of the windows, doors, walls, floor, roof, etc. Once these targets are all met the building receives a pass and construction of the design under part L of the building regulations for energy efficiency is then approved.

Get your SBEM calculation sorted early on in the project to avoid costly refits and design changes in the later stages of your project if your design is not meeting the targets.
Prices start from as little as £195! Send over your construction details today and we'll get working for you!
Who Needs Commercial SBEM Calculations?
Architects and Designers
To ensure that their designs comply with energy efficiency regulations before construction begins. Early calculations help integrate energy performance standards into the design phase.
Construction Companies
To ensure that the projects they undertake are compliant with Building Regulations. Compliance ensures that construction meets legal standards and avoids potential fines or legal issues.
Property Developers
To meet regulatory requirements and avoid costly alterations during the build phase. Developers benefit from accurate predictions of energy performance, aiding in planning and budgeting.
Building Control Authorities
To verify that new commercial buildings meet energy performance standards. Accurate SBEM calculations help authorities in approving building designs for public safety and sustainability.
